For the last few years we have run a successful U19 program in the TRU league and
have run tournament teams under the ORU at the U15 and U17 age groups. This
year will be a bit different.
At the U15 level we will continue to run a dedicated program under Celeste Corless.
As for the other age groups, we have rationalized them with the High School
age group, and will run a single-focused U18 program under Craig Inward in the TRU
league. The 1990 (U19) birth year women will be part of our growing Senior women's
program and this will be more consistent with their current playing levels as most
of these women play in the university leagues now.
These changes will allow us to develop
the younger players more effectively, through increased playing time and better
competition, and will allow our senior women a chance to jump start into a two team
organization.
We expect that all 1993, 1992, 1991
(U16, U17, U18) aged girls will play on this U18 team. This is consistent
with the make up of most high school teams - (Grades 10-12). There may be
opportunities for the ORU to run U17 age group events, games, and tournaments and
we will of course look to participate where possible depending on numbers and commitment.
We expect this to be an exciting and
successful year, and look forward to seeing everyone - both old and new players!
